Newsletter May 2026

Dear All,

I hope this brief newsletter finds all our Drama Group friends well and happy. As I write this I am hopeful that the promise of good weather for the Bank Holiday weekend will materialise if only to help my vegetables grow! The Committee met this week and not surprisingly the summer show was the main agenda item – see below:

LADIES’ DAY

The cast have been really hard at work rehearsing for our Spring/Summer Show Ladies’ Day and it is not long now until the curtain goes up.

The show features four women who throw caution to the wind and spend the day at the races rather than packing fish at their work. They encounter a range of characters and learn a lot about themselves, friendship and life.

It’s a feel-good, funny and uplifting play and it would be wonderful if all our members, their families and friends could come along and support the group as, as you all know, so much effort goes into every show, and it means a lot to the performers to play to full houses.

The performances for the show are June 25th, 26th and 27th so do please put these dates in the diary so that you can come along to support our lovely group. Please do encourage friends and family to come along too as it really should be a great show.

We would also really welcome any offers for help backstage, Front of House and bar. Please let Hannah know if you can help.

On the final page of this Newsletter is an A4 poster advertising the show and if you are able to print it off and put it up somewhere for others to see that would be wonderful too – thank you in advance.

PANTOMIME 2027

With rehearsals for Ladies’ Day well underway our thoughts are now turning to the Pantomime for 2027. Oh yes they are! 😊

If anyone wishes to submit a Pantomime for consideration please can you let Hugh know and send him the script so that he can share it with all the Committee members in time for the next Committee Meeting which is on June 16th.

AND FINALLY…

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for forthcoming shows (Pantomimes, dramas, musicals, murder mysteries etc) please do let the Committee know at any time of the year – we would love to hear from you. It is always good to know which shows we could put on well in advance.
